San Diego Comic Con!

Josh and I are planning a trip to Comic Con this year! I am super stocked and I'm really hoping all the planning works out. Tickets haven't gone on sale yet but I will be ready for them when they do because I hear they sell out super fast. I'm looking for places to stay and of course everywhere in San Diego jacked their prices up because of Comic Con. Even the hostils doubled there prices! But it's well worth it. It will be both Joshs' and my first time going! We are thinking of what to cosplay and for the preview night I'm going to be a steampunk Harley Quinn and Josh the Joker...

The other nights I going to be Lilith and Mad Moxxi. Still thinking of what to be the other 2 days.
I'm so excited for the whole trip but am also nervous I won't get tickets so... Wish me Luck!!

Lilith Cosplay!

I was asked who my favorite video game character was. It took so time to think of who that would be because there are so many awesome character out there but, with much deliberation, I decided that Lilith is my favorite video game character. Although she didn't have many speaking roles in Borderlands (1) I still took an interest to her character and by Borderlands 2 I was hooked. I love everything about her.

I chose to be Lilith for Halloween! Take a look...

Moxxi Cosplay!

A few months ago I was talking about the new Moxxi costume I was working on. Well... I finished it in time for the Borderlands 2 release Sept. 19! Yes, I am just now getting around to posting pics of it. Major upgrade from the first one I made 2 years ago! Still need a few thing for it but I'll get those one of these days. If you have any questions just ask! :)

Moxxi Makeup

This is my trial run of Moxxi makeup so bare with me. I still need some more supplies and yes, for those of you you notice, there are a few mistakes that will be fixed next time. With that said, I hope you enjoy this brief tutorial and my first run through of the makeup!

Supplies you will need:

    1. Start by applying white cream costume makeup with a sponge covering your whole face including  your eyes, eyebrows, and lips. Repeat this process 3- 5 times until you have the proper coverage. Use white eyeshadow to fill in any missed spots. Finish it off with a blush brush to even everything out.

    2. For the eyeshadow I used a combination of shimmery tans and golds and added 2 shades of light pink shimmer light pink. The shimmer makes it pop a little more. Apply gold and tan to lid and crease of eye with eye shadow brush then add the pink to just the crease.

    3. I used cream eyeliner with an angled brush to surround the eyes with a thick black line.

    4. to start of, yes, I know the feathery liner on the left is suppose to be on the right (I didn't realize my mistake til' after I finished)
No back to the tutorial: I used cream and liquid liner to run feathery streaks across my eye and added a thick volumizing mascara.

    5. Lastly I colored over my eyebrows with a dark brown eye pencil, added pink blush on my cheek bones, mixed two shades of lipstick, and added the beauty mark and smirk with liquid eye liner.
Lips need to be improved with a darker lip liner.

Although slight vague, I hope you enjoyed this brief tutorial of my first trial of Moxxi makeup. More info to come as I practice more!

What is my favorite game? There are so many difffernt styles of games how do I choose just one?
    Just a though...
Take into account every aspect of a game, single player, co-op, multiplayer, story, graphics, and everything else.

    Mad Moxxi Halloween

Two years ago I posted this on one of my old blogs and just found it today. I though it would be nice to post it here and give people an idea of one of the costumes I design also, to give people instruction on how they can make it. Since making this costume two years ago I have make improvements. Enjoy!

    Mad Moxxi:

For Halloween I was Mad Moxxi from the video game Borderlands. Her costume is designed after a ring master in a circus but, instead of the circus she is the ringmaster of the Underdome which is a fighting arena.
    She pretty much amazing!

I constructed this outfit on my own without using any patterns. The only things I had to refrence the outfit was internet pictures and the video game. All the material used to create this outfit came from Joann's Fabric store and Walmart. This was an intricate costume to construct that took a little over a moth to complete with countless hours involved. I could have had it completed sooner then a month but I did not want to stress myself out. I wanted the costume to look as much like the original as possible.

Costume Details (head to toe) :

*Top Hat- was black with black sparkles that I spray painted maroon. The I hot glued the black and white band to the top hat and then added the feathers and the queen of hearts playing card.
*Face- white costume makeup was used for the base. Heavy black liquid eye liner was used around my eyes and also for the small swirls around the right eye. A simple grey eye shadow was used on lids. Then came the rose red blush that was put in circles on my cheek bones. A bright red lipstick was used followed by more black liquid eye liner to make it look like I was smirking and also to put the beauty mark on.
*Heart- just a simple black outline colored in with red. (I was going to get the heart really tattooed but I didn't have enough time for it to heal before Halloween.)
*Jacket (Tail Coat)- A red and dark red marbled cotton fabric was used for the main part of the jacket. ( I could not find any lightly striped fabric like she is wearing in the game.) The lining of the jacket was made with a turquoise satin fabric where lining was put throughout the inside of the whole coat. Yellow double fold  bias tape was used to outline the jacket. For the collar and cuffs I sewed cotton fabric to foam paper to give it a more structured look. Buttons were then sewn on. In order to get the buttons to look like the original I had to use a black paint marker to put the outline on them.
*Bottom- This party was easy seeing that I didn't have to do any sewing, just construction. I used a pair of black cotton shorts because I could not find any turquoise. Then I used fishnet tights that I cut holes in the leg had a black and white striped thigh high on. I was able to buy a garter like she has and then just added some belts. I then just used a pair of black ankle boots.

Due to time restraints I was not able to complete a few things I wanted like having covers on the boots and having the lining in the jacket look the same. But, with all this said and done I would have to say this costume turned out really well and I am extremely pleased with my work!

(The guy in the picture is my husband Josh who dressed like Ezio from Assassin's Creed 2. He also made his costume from scratch and did an amazing job!)

Alert! : I finally like Mass Effect!.... WHA!?

After many disagreements between Josh about me not liking Mass Effect I can now say I am officially hooked! I finished the 1st one 3 days ago during my 5 days of being sick because I had nothing better to do and I must say it is an excellent RPG... I still like Dragon Age: Origins better but not bad. I have tried playing this game 3 separate times in the past year and something finally clicked maybe not being able to move due to being so sick or maybe 3rd time's a charm. In Mass Effect I played through as a female Operative which means I specialized in manipulating the environment along with using pistols. Mass Effect is about a female (or male) Commander Shepherd who becomes involved in the intergalactic council due to awesome achievements and becomes a Spectre. Spectres are there to get the job done... however they see fit and are above the law. You are sent on a mission to chase down a rogue Turian Spectre named Saren and while tracking him down a lot of other things happen and before you know it the Reapers (the voice of destruction) have returned. In the end you defeat Saren but the bigger threat are the Reapers and from that very vague description Mass Effect 2 starts. I have started Mass Effect 2 and I am currently 13 hours into it. Still great but overall I like story line and upgrades better in the first one. I feel as if Bioware simplified the customization options. It makes me happy that 2 lets you change armor color and each armor piece. Also,  it's great to see old faces back like Garrus and Tali! Kadin was a butt so see if I ever let him be my boyfriend again! I don't like Cerberus and I miss the Alliance but that a personal preference. I still have half of the 2nd one to play so for now that's all I have. Can't wait for Mass Effect 3 in March!

    Wards Rd. SBux!

It's been an eventful few days in the Wards Rd. Starbucks world. One of the main water lines busted which completely effected our store. We completely closed Saturday and half the day Sunday. During the closing myself along with other awesome people did a mass store cleaning. Believe it or not I really enjoyed myself. I felt as if I regained my appreciation for Starbucks... especially my store and everyone who works with me. My manager re motivated me  to step up and get my Coffee Master certification back on track. I am thankful for my store and the dedicated and enthusiastic people working there. So many friendships have been made there! Love everyone at store 8775!

    Gotham City Impostors

Just started playing Gotham City Impostors yesterday and as of right now... so far so good. It's a Light fun game. Team Bats against Team Jokers. It like turf wars like West side story (The Sharks and The Jets) or for those Twilight fans Team Edward or Team Jacob... or as my fiance like to say "Team guy who almost hit Bella with the van in the  first movie"... but that's beside the point. You get the idea.

I enjoy the customization option with the weapon/gadget load-outs along with character customization. You start out with the very basics and as you play levels you unlock and earn coins to upgrade your character. Each character has different abilities for instance... the girl has faster speed and a guy who is strong but slow. I was impressed with all the customization due to it only being an arcade game but, then again, I haven't played too many arcade games.

As I continue to play I will update and get more info on the game! Stay tune!
    Cupcake out!

    Memories

Today was good. I went back to my old high school and visited the drama and band room. The memories started flooding back to me one by one. It's been 4 years since I've walked the halls as a student. I do miss those bittersweet memories. Band competitions, Gator Bowl, plays, meeting and loosing my best friend James, finding the guy I would be spending the rest of my life with, Josh. I still remember back when Josh and I first started dating, when we didn't even have the thought of marriage, James told me he was going to be my "Man of Honor" in the wedding. Even though he is no longer here physically he is still in my heart. I had a special kind of love with him. Not the "oh I'm going to marry him" love but the deep bonding love where I knew he would be my best friend forever and he would do anything for me. I love and miss you James and I know you would be right here with me as i prepare to get married reminding Josh like you did back in high school "If you break her heart, I will break your face."
